Owner Nancy Fernandez is a literacy interventionist and executive function coach who combines her passion for arts integration with the creative, multi-sensory approach of Orton Gillingham+. As a permanently certified NYS teacher, Nancy loves building lifelong readers and helping her clients and their families find more space for joy by improving their executive function skills. Nancy earned her BA in English and Film Studies from Emory University and her M.Ed. in secondary English education from SUNY Buffalo. She began her professional career focused on story and talent development in Hollywood before transitioning into Education. Over the past 24 years, Nancy created and facilitated curriculum for 8-12th grade ELA courses including, Film Studies, A.P. Literature, and Career Studies. Nancy’s professional development includes being a fellow with the WNY Writing Project and Facing History and Ourselves, whose mission is to "use lessons of history to challenge teachers and their students to stand up to bigotry and hate." She also has a certificate in Nonprofit leadership from the Harvard Business School Club of Buffalo and most recently a certificate in entrepreneurship from the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership at SUNY Buffalo. Nancy is a Lincoln Center certified professional teaching artist, a published intuitive poet, musician, performer, and co-founder of VR Buffalo, an organization dedicated to integrating emerging technologies into educational spaces.
